What is guardianship?

Guardianship is a legal arrangement in which a court grants an individual or entity the legal authority and responsibility to make decisions on behalf of another person, known as the ward. The ward is typically someone who is unable to make decisions or manage their own affairs due to physical or mental incapacity, such as a minor, an individual with developmental disabilities, or an incapacitated adult.

The purpose of guardianship is to ensure that the well-being, safety, and interests of the ward are protected. The appointed guardian becomes responsible for making decisions related to the ward’s personal, financial, and healthcare matters. These decisions can include managing the ward’s living arrangements, education, medical treatment, financial affairs, and other important aspects of their life.

Our Services

Guardian
Representation

We assist family members or close relatives in pursuing the guardianship of person and/or estate on behalf of their loved one, from beginning to end. Our team provides expert guidance through the legal process, ensuring a smooth and efficient resolution with the best interests of your loved one in mind.

Appointed Guardian

We serve as a court-appointed guardian for individuals who are unable to make decisions for themselves. We ensure the well-being, safety, and interests of the ward are protected, while handling financial, medical, and personal affairs with professionalism and compassion.

Guardianship Opposition

We represent individuals who are opposed to having a guardian appointed or are currently in a guardianship that they seek to have terminated. We advocate for their rights, ensuring their voice is heard and working toward the least restrictive alternatives to preserve their independence.

Estate Planning & Administration

Estate planning ensures your assets and wishes are protected through wills, trusts, and directives, while estate administration manages the legal process of distributing assets, settling debts, and ensuring a smooth transition for your beneficiaries.
